Blue Eye

Blue Eye, or Syri i Kaltër, is one of Albania’s most stunning natural sights. It is near the village of Muzinë in southern Albania. The spring is famous for its bright blue and turquoise waters. Surrounded by thick forests, it is a peaceful spot for nature lovers, photographers, and travelers who want something unique.

The spring forms a deep natural pool. Water bubbles up from underground, creating clear, bright colors that change with sunlight and angle. Short walking paths and shaded trails let visitors explore the surrounding forest and reach small viewpoints. Swimming in the main spring is not allowed, but nearby streams are safe for a quick dip in summer.

Visitors usually spend 1–2 hours here. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit because the weather is milder and the colors of the water are most vivid.

Practical Information

Blue Eye is reachable by car from Saranda or Gjirokastër. Parking is available near the entrance. A small fee helps maintain the site. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and take sun protection. Cameras are highly recommended to capture the amazing colors.

Organized tours are available from Albanian cities such as Saranda, Gjirokastër, and Himara, which usually include transport and a guided walk. In addition, some tours run from Corfu and other nearby Greek islands for travelers coming from abroad.

Blue Eye is perfect for a half-day or full-day trip. Its clear blue waters, peaceful forest, and easy trails make it one of Albania’s most memorable natural attractions.
