Karaburun Peninsula, near the city of Vlora, is one of Albania’s most beautiful and unspoiled natural areas. Known for its rugged cliffs, hidden beaches, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic landscapes, it belongs to the Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park — Albania’s only national marine park. Visitors can hike, swim, snorkel, and explore secluded coves.

Most travelers explore the peninsula on foot, by 4×4, or through organized boat tours. These tours reach hidden beaches, snorkeling spots, and coastal caves that are hard to access alone. Because the peninsula combines cliffs, sea, and untouched landscapes, it suits both half-day trips and full-day adventures.
You can explore Karaburun Peninsula in a half-day if you focus on one or two highlights, but a full day allows hiking, visiting multiple beaches, and snorkeling. Many travelers prefer organized tours from Vlora because these tours simplify navigation and provide access to remote spots that are otherwise difficult to reach.
Visitors can access the peninsula from Vlora by 4×4, hiking trails, or boat. Interior paths are rugged and isolated, so hikers should wear proper footwear and bring water. Parking is available near trailheads and the port in Vlora. There is no entrance fee for the peninsula, though boat tours charge a small fee depending on the provider.
The best time to visit is late spring and early autumn when the weather is pleasant, seas are calmer, and crowds are smaller. Bring sunscreen, hats, snacks, water, and appropriate clothing. Snorkeling gear is highly recommended for exploring underwater areas. Since some trails are remote and mobile signal can be weak, always let someone know your hiking plan.
